gonna be real, i'm mostly curious how he landed those first few clients without a brand name behind him. solo consulting is a grind until you get a referral engine running, so i wanna know what the actual first 90 days looked like
u/throwaway_11096571 Well my first few clients actually came from former employers and colleagues who learned that I broke off and went independent as a consultant, period. One of the things I think was helpful was building out a brand on LinkedIn for many years and then carrying that into a Substack newsletter. I built an audience to share my ideas and build credibility to what I do and to share exactly my mindset around revenue operations.
The consulting firm that I run today offers a combination of AI operations consulting, revenue operations consulting, and Clay. Clay has been a huge opportunity over the last eighteen months to implement support teams. But my bread and butter is coming in as a fractional head of revenue operations. And, quite frankly, I find a lot of organizations just do not have the technical chops to navigate their way through Clay itself.
