Contact Unlimited Enrichment Cascade

Builds a reusable Clay workflow that fills in missing contact details such as email, phone, and LinkedIn URLs, checking the buyer's own paid providers before spending Clay credits.

About this Skill

When to use it

Teams already pay monthly for contact-data providers but still burn Clay credits on lookups those providers could answer for free. This Skill builds a cascade that tries the buyer's paid providers first and only spends credits when every free option comes back empty.

What it delivers

The buyer gets a provider capability map, an approved cascade plan, enriched contact records stamped with which provider found each field, and a report showing how many records reached the paid tier. The workflow only fills in missing fields and never re-looks-up values already supplied.

Inputs & outputs

What someone provides before the Skill runs, and the reviewable artifacts it returns.

Inputs

  • 01Provider setup
    • Name the flat-rate providers you already pay for and which plan unlocks unlimited use
    • give the Clay connection name for each provider, not the API key.
  • 02Data sharing confirmationConfirm your provider agreements allow sending contact identities like names and companies to those providers on every row.
  • 03Existing cascade to extendIf you already have a cascade this Skill built, supply its config and build-state.json to add a provider instead of starting over.

Outputs

  • 01Provider capability map
    • Shows what each provider you hold can fill, what it needs, and where it lands in the order
    • review it before you build the plan.
  • 02Proposed cascade plan
    • Lays out every step in order, what each field costs if it falls through to paid providers, and what won't be filled
    • approve or edit it before the Skill builds anything.
  • 03Enriched contact recordA table of contacts with LinkedIn, email, and phone filled in, each stamped with the provider that found it and whether the email verified.
  • 04Reach-rate reportShows how many records reached the paid tier, which fields failed and why, and actual spend against the earlier estimate.

Representative output

Derived from each provider's own spec at Step 3, and shown back before anything is built. Placeholder providers; the shape is the contract.

How the Skill runs

Follow the steps in order. Each row includes the full instruction.

01
State the posture, then confirm the platform

States plainly that the workflow will write enriched values onto any table you later bind, post finished records to a callback URL when one is given, and never asks for or stores an API key; then checks that the Clay command line can reach your workspace.

Step
02
Route on what you have: a new build, or a provider to add

Decides whether this is a brand-new cascade or an addition of one provider to a cascade this Skill already built, based on whether you supply existing config files.

Action
03
Ask only what nothing can derive, which is very little

Asks only one question it cannot derive on its own: whether your provider agreements allow sending contact identities to third parties.

Step
04
Ask which providers they hold, then derive what each can actually do

Asks which providers you hold, reads each one's real capabilities, and builds a capability map showing what each can fill and what it needs first.

Step
05
Propose the cascade plan, get it approved, then collect the connection names

Presents the full cascade plan with costs and gaps, then stops and waits for you to approve or request changes before collecting your Clay connection names.

Step
06
Write the config, then prove it without building anything

Writes the configuration and runs two free, offline checks that catch bad code or unresolved provider names before anything is created in your workspace.

Action
07
Build the graph, without publishing it

Builds the workflow as an unpublished draft in your Clay workspace, states plainly that this writes to your workspace, and stops and waits for your confirmation first.

Step
08
Validate, then run one real record

Runs two real test records, one with nothing supplied and one with a LinkedIn URL already filled in, to prove the cascade finds data correctly and never re-looks-up a value you already gave it.

Step
09
Publish and go live

Shows the measured credit cost, states plainly that flat-rate calls are not truly free and that the workflow writes data and can post to a callback URL, then stops and waits for approval before publishing.

Step
10
Deliver, and say what was not covered

Delivers the reach-rate report, flags providers or fields worth removing, and explains the three ways to call the finished cascade from a table, another workflow, or an outside system.
