ICP Sequencer Workflow

When prospecting should run as a saved, repeatable workflow

Builds a reusable Clay workflow that searches your ideal customer profile, verifies work emails, and saves qualified contacts to an audience segment linked to a draft outbound campaign, so prospecting runs inside a saved workflow instead of a one-time search or CSV import.

About this Skill

When to use it

Use this Skill when you want prospecting to run inside a saved, reusable Clay workflow instead of a one-time search or CSV import. It builds a search-and-enrichment workflow, a people audience segment, and a draft outbound campaign that stay connected for repeat runs.

What it delivers

You get three connected draft artifacts: a saved search-and-enrichment workflow, a people audience segment, and a draft campaign with outreach copy and sender settings. Only qualified, verified contacts become segment members, and nothing launches or sends until you explicitly authorize it.

How someone would prompt this

Build a workflow that finds VP and Head of Engineering leads at Series B fintech companies with 50-1,000 employees in the US, verifies their work emails, and saves qualified contacts to a segment feeding a draft outbound campaign.

Inputs & outputs

What someone provides before the Skill runs, and the reviewable artifacts it returns.

Inputs

  • 01ICP targeting criteria
    • Target buyer roles and seniority
    • company size, industry, growth, or technographic filters
    • whether location means person or company HQ
    • explicit include/exclude lists.
  • 02Offer and personalization
    • Who is selling, the offer, the call to action, and any proof claims
    • optional facts to personalize outreach and how recent they must be.
  • 03Workspace and tooling
    • Pick the Clay workspace to build in
    • specify an email verification function if you need a particular one
    • choose how to track campaign membership.
  • 04Sender accountWhich connected sending identity the draft campaign should use.
  • 05Run scopeWhether to run the full search or cap results, plus any per-run or per-company limits at execution time.

Outputs

  • 01Draft artifacts handoffGet clickable links to the draft workflow, audience segment, and campaign along with their status, so you can review and authorize next steps.

Representative output

Built for a VP/Head of Engineering at US Series B fintech ICP:

  • ICP and how it maps to search: role (VP/Head of Engineering), person geography (US) and industry (fintech — Financial Services / Software) are native search filters.
  • Stages configured: native Find leads trigger (on demand) → company-domain enrichment where missing → find-and-verify work email → verified-email gate → Audiences upsert writing fintech_vpeng_member = true. Personalization not requested, so the email gate connects straight to writeback.
  • Enrichment: a single installed waterfall that returns only verified work emails.
  • Membership/filter: dedicated boolean fintech_vpeng_member; the segment filters it to true; write mapping and segment filter were read back and agree.
  • Status: all three are drafts. No contacts processed — nothing has run.
  • Remaining to run: select a sender account, choose run scope or a result limit, run the workflow, then launch the campaign. Each is a separate, explicitly authorized step.

How the Skill runs

Follow the steps in order. Each row includes the full instruction.

01
Check setup and connections

Confirms your Clay workspace and CLI access, and that the workflow, Audiences, and campaign tools are available.

Step
02
Interview for the ICP and offer

Asks you, one question at a time, for buyer roles, company criteria, geography, exclusions, and the seller and offer, reusing anything you've already supplied.

Step
03
Build the native workflow

Confirms node syntax on the installed CLI, then builds a draft workflow: find leads → resolve company domain → find and verify work email → verified-email gate → write the contact plus a membership marker to Audiences.

Step
04
Connect Audiences and the campaign

Creates a dedicated membership field and a segment that filters it, then a draft audience-fed campaign bound to that segment via leadBaseSegmentId, with reviewed copy and sender settings.

Step
05
Test and validate

Reads the saved graph back, confirms the full node set (not just the trigger) and that the segment filter and campaign binding agree, then runs a small authorized test with the campaign in draft.

Step
06
Hand off

Delivers the three artifact links, the configured stages, draft status, and the exact remaining steps — sender selection, run scope, publish, and launch.

Step
