Find Recent Company Developments

Builds a Clay workflow that turns a list of companies into dated, sourced briefs on new leadership, M&A, news, and transformation activity inside a time window you set.

About this Skill

When to use it

Use this Skill when you need a dated, sourced brief on what changed recently at one or more accounts, such as new leadership, M&A, procurement notices, or news, before a call or as account research. It builds and runs a reusable Clay workflow that resolves each company, checks new hires, and runs four research passes inside the lookback window you choose. Avoid using it for firmographics, headcount, contact details, funding-round numbers, tracking one named person's job change, or writing outreach itself.

What it delivers

You get a dated, sourced development brief per company plus a list-level summary showing how many resolved, had events or new joiners, and what was spent. The brief stops at research; it never emails, writes to a CRM, or drafts outreach.

How someone would prompt this

Brief me on these 30 target accounts using their LinkedIn URLs, looking back 6 months, covering all four research areas, and send the results to a CSV.

Inputs & outputs

What someone provides before the Skill runs, and the reviewable artifacts it returns.

Inputs

  • 01Company list
    • Paste LinkedIn URLs or domains, or point to a CSV column holding either
    • the workflow refuses a name-only row
    • the output CSV keeps your other columns unchanged
  • 02Research scope
    • Set how many months back to look
    • choose which of the four research passes to run (M&A, news, procurement, transformation)
    • confirm or edit the leadership title list used to spot new joiners
  • 03Delivery and budget
    • Choose where the summary goes: conversation, Markdown files, or CSV
    • set the most credits you want spent, confirmed after a one-company test run
  • 04Saved answers (optional)
    • If a prior answer file sits beside the Skill, it uses those saved values and names them before use
    • you can also save your answers at the end for reuse next time

Outputs

  • 01Company briefYou get a dated, sourced summary per company covering new leadership, M&A, news, procurement, and transformation activity, ready to read before a call.
  • 02List summaryYou get a rollup showing how many companies resolved, had events or new joiners, failed, and how many credits were spent against your cap.

How the Skill runs

Follow the steps in order. Each row includes the full instruction.

01
Confirm Clay access and explain the plan

Checks that you're signed into Clay with the required plugin, tells you what the run will do, and stops with a fix if access is missing.

Step
02
Collect your research settings

Asks for your company list, lookback period, event types, leadership title list, and delivery format instead of guessing any of them.

Agent
03
Build or reuse the workflow

Looks for an existing matching workflow first, then shows the plan and estimated first-run cost and stops, waiting for your explicit yes before creating or running anything.

Step
04
Test on one company

Runs the workflow once on a single company and checks the real results and actual credit cost before touching the rest of the list.

Step
05
Review sample and set spend cap

Shows you the full brief for that one company with its measured cost, then stops and waits for you to set the most you want to spend before running the rest.

Step
06
Combine and filter results

Merges all research passes, drops any event without a valid date inside your window, and formats the leadership and events sections consistently.

Step
07
Deliver briefs and summary

Delivers each company's brief plus a list-level summary of resolved companies, events, joiners, failures, and credits spent against your cap.
