Generate Personalized Gift

Builds and runs a one-time Clay workflow that researches each LinkedIn profile for genuine interests and hands back a specific, budget-matched gift idea with a personalized note for a human to review.

About this Skill

When to use it

Use this Skill when you need a personalized gift idea and note for each person on a list of LinkedIn profiles, such as gifts for champions, top accounts, or a gifting touch in a sequence. It researches each person's real public interests, matches a buyable product to your budget, and drafts a warm note that names the interest. Avoid using it for cold email writing, account or company research, finding contact details, or buying, shipping, or sending anything.

What it delivers

You get a gift plan listing each person's interest, the matched gift, its price and rationale, whether the product link was actually confirmed, and a draft message, plus a separate list of anyone Clay could not identify. This supports a final go or no-go decision by a human before anything is bought or sent; nothing in this workflow purchases, ships, or sends on its own.

Find personalized gift ideas for these 30 prospects, budget $40 to $100, and show me the plan before spending more than 150 credits.

Inputs & outputs

What someone provides before the Skill runs, and the reviewable artifacts it returns.

Inputs

  • 01Recipient list
    • A list or CSV of LinkedIn profile URLs, one per person
    • a name column is optional and used only to confirm matches.
  • 02Budget and spend limits
    • The price band and currency each gift must fall in
    • the maximum Clay credits you are willing to spend on the full list, set after seeing one real test cost.
  • 03Delivery destinationWhere the finished plan should land: left in the conversation, or written to a CSV path you choose.

Outputs

  • 01Gift plan per personA table with each person's role, researched interests, chosen gift, price, confirmed product link, and a draft personal note, ready for a human to review before sending anything.
  • 02Could not identifyA short list of profiles Clay could not match to a real person, with the reason, so you know who Clay skipped and why before spending further credits.

How the Skill runs

Follow the steps in order. Each row includes the full instruction.

01
Confirm Clay is ready

Checks your Clay login and required plugin, explains what the Skill will and will not do, and stops with a one-line fix if either check fails.

Step
02
Collect your inputs

Asks for the LinkedIn profile list, the gift budget and currency, and where the finished plan should go, without guessing any of them.

Step
03
Build or reuse the workflow

Checks for an existing matching Clay workflow, reuses it if found, otherwise proposes the exact research and gift-selection steps and waits for your explicit approval before building or running anything.

Step
04
Test on one person

Runs the full workflow on a single person first and checks that every step actually returned real research and a real product, not just a completed status.

Step
05
Review test and set spend cap

Shows you that one person's full gift plan and its real cost, then stops and waits for you to set a maximum credit budget before running the rest of the list.

Step
06
Assemble the final plan

Builds each person's row from the exact research step that produced it, flags gifts outside the budget band, and lists unidentified people separately instead of dropping them.
